TANKERS Very weak conditions in the Med. for Aframaxes. Latest fixtures less than W/S 100 for 80,000 tons of cargo. – Suezmax market steady in the same area, with CSSA having fixed M/T «Besiktas» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading August 19 Egypt, discharging UKC/Med., at W/S 90 while Petraco for 140,000 tons of cargo, loading August 20 with same destination, has fixed M/T «Aegean Eagle» at same levels. – Market activity in the Cont. has picked up slightly due to fresh inquiry out of Baltic. Normal Baltic stems for 100,000 tons of cargo are fixed at W/S 110. Gunvor has fixed M/T «Eagle Trenton,» loading August 19, discharging UKC, at above said levels. – Caribs is softening with limited number of fixtures. The 70,000 tons of cargo are fixed between W/S 155-165. Atmi has fixed M/T «Genmar Baltic,» loading August 12, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 160. – Suezmaxes out of W. Africa at steady levels, with ENI having fixed M/T «Yiannis P» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading August 16, discharging Med., at W/S 90 while on VLCCS, Vitol, for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading August 30, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Welsh Venture» at W/S 60. DRY CARGO Quieter conditions in all areas and sizes. Indexes are moving downward with the interest only focused on T/C periods. – On Capers, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Kerkis,» 208,952 dwt, built 1982, delivery end-July to beg.-August China, at USD 19,000 daily while same charterers have fixed M/V «Princess Susanna,» 156,295 dwt, built 1986, delivery 10-15 August for 4-6 months’ trading, at USD 24,500 daily. – On Panamax in Atlantic, ABT has fixed M/V «Carol,» 75,608 dwt, built 1999, delivery end-July to beg.-August, for 3-5 months’ trading, at USD 17,500 daily. – In the Pacific, M/V «Anangel Loyalty,» 71,550 dwt, built 1995, delivery Japan August 6-8, trip via USAC, redelivery Far East, has been fixed at USD 15,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Ed&F MAN has fixed M/V «Aker,» 34,856 dwt, built 1983, delivery US Gulf, redelivery Med., at USD 16,000 daily.
