Greeks ask for lower tax on empty properties
The association representing property owners in Greece on Tuesday demanded that the government ensure that empty properties, or ones that have been disconnected from the power grid, are taxed at a lower rate.
In a statement, the Panhellenic Federation of Property Owners (POMIDA) said it was directing a “request and warning” to the government regarding the properties in question.
POMIDA argues that taxing these properties at the same rate as those that are in use as part of the unified property tax (ENFIA) would be “a tragic mistake” and “disastrous for taxpayers.”
“We expect, even at the last minute, a positive response from the prime minister, the deputy prime minister and the finance minister and for MPs from the countries large urban areas to finally show an interest in taxpayers’ fate.”
