Greek stocks see sluggish trade on low turnover

The Greek bourse had an uneventful start to the week, as its benchmark posted negligible losses, the blue chip index remained unchanged and turnover was almost half the amount seen in Friday’s trade.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 1,196.63 points, shedding just 0.04 percent from Friday’s 1,197.11 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index stayed put at 388.54 points.

Blue chips showed a mixed picture, with Eurobank rising 2.02 percent and Marfin Investment Group expanding 1.97 percent, while Folli Follie declined 1.87 percent and National Bank contracted 1.82 percent.

In total 67 stocks registered gains, 58 suffered losses and 25 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 65.2 million euros, down from last Friday’s 126.8 million.
