Greek stocks pull out of nose dive

After racking accumulated losses of 9.35 percent in the previous four sessions, Greeks stocks finally reversed course on Thursday.

Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 883.54 points, adding 1.29 percent to Wednesday’s 872.31 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index rose 1.12 percent to 285.35 points.

Bank stocks outperformed, with their sectoral index growing 2.53 percent, as National Bank rose 5.59 percent, while Ellaktor advanced 5.37 percent and Intralot climbed 3.67 percent.

The biggest losses were for OPAP gaming company (down 1.85 percent) and OTE telecom (1.72 percent).

In total 66 stocks secured gains, 48 took losses and 25 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 90 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 95.4 million.
