Sellers have the last laugh in bourse session

The last hour of trading on the Greek bourse on Tuesday generated significant losses for the majority of stocks despite assurances by the finance minister that progress was being made in talks with the country’s creditors.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 962.05 points, shedding 2.83 percent from Monday’s 990.11 points.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index contracted 2.81 percent to 312.27 points.

Most blue chips ended in the red, with Viohalco losing 6.09 percent and Public Power Corporation giving up 5.33 percent.

Jumbo kept rising, adding 1.47 percent.

In total 47 stocks rose, 55 dropped and 19 stayed put.

Turnover came to 131.6 million euros from Monday’s 73.2 million, including HOL’s share transfer from Intracom to Vodafone worth 62.5 million euros.
