Fitch warns Athens of possible credit rating downgrade
Fitch Ratings warned on Tuesday that it may change Greece’s rating due to political developments.
It stated that the early elections have increased the risk of a change, meaning a downgrade, and estimated that the political uncertainty will likely remain high for «a few months.”
It also recommended that there should be cooperation between the new government and the country’s creditors while noting that the negotiations between a possible SYRIZA-led government and the creditors would be difficult, as the privatizations program would likely stop and the state salary budget need more funds.
