Greeks fork out nearly 5 pct of their incomes on telecom services

The average cost of a combined connection to a land line, a mobile line and broadband Internet amounts to 4.8 percent of the average annual income of Greek citizens, according to a survey by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Using data from the end of 2013, the analysis ranks Greece as the 59th cheapest among 166 countries in the world based on the cost of the main telecom services basket compiled and compared by ITU, as published in its ‘Measuring the Information Society’ report.

The cost of cell phone services in Greece amounts to 2.18 percent of the average annual Greek income, the survey showed.
