Tourism helped hotels and tavernas increase turnover by 13.7 pct last year
Turnover in the accommodation and catering sector posted a 13.7 percent increase last year compared to the year before, according to data released yesterday by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
The travel and booking services sector saw turnover gain 6.6 percent year-on-year, while air transport turnover grow 8.4 percent.
Meanwhile the Greek National Tourism Organization has won the top prize in the Expedia Media Solutions 2014 competition for «Destination Campaign of the Year» in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, conducted from March 24 to September 24, 2014 and aimed at attracting tourists from the US, the UK and Australia.
