TANKERS There has been a quiet start to the week but levels have stayed steady. – Aframaxes in the Med. are being fixed at around W/S 150-155, while in the Cont., cargoes out of the Baltic are being fixed at W/S 130. – Suezmaxes in W. Africa are being fixed near W/S 100-105 with destination USAC. – VLCCs remain at steady levels. – In the Med., BP, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading October 24 Libya, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed M/T «Minerva Emma» at W/S 195. – In the Cont., Shell for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading October 26 N. Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Victoria Sp» at W/S 137.5. – In W. Africa, BPAmoco has fixed M/T «North Star» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading November 2, discharging Med., at W/S 97.5. DRY CARGO Very firm market, with Capers and Panamax indexes increasing by 292 and 45 points, to reach 6055 and 4419, respectively. – On T/C periods, Noble has fixed M/V «Pitsa D» 170,109 dwt, built 2002, delivery Skaw 20-30 October, for 11-13 months trading, at USD 54,000 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Bulk Shipping has fixed M/V «United Support,» 74,110 dwt, built 1999, delivery Taiwan October 17-18, trip via Indonesia, redelivery Morocco, at USD 46,000 daily, while Damato has fixed M/V «Alabama,» 74,002 dwt, built 1998, delivery Far East beg.-December for two years’ trading, at USD 20,000 daily. – In Atlantic, CSE has fixed M/V «Nordkap,» 77,200 dwt, built 2002, delivery Italy October 18-20, trip via Brazil, redelivery Taiwan at USD 31,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Cosco has fixed M/V «Ince Atlantic,» 45,608 dwt, built 2002, delivery October 15-20, redelivery Far East, at USD 17,000 daily. – On grain cargoes, Conagra for 45,000 tons of cargo, loading November 5-18 US Gulf, discharging Taiwan, has fixed at USD 44.00 per ton, with 10,000-ton load and 4,000 tons discharge.
