TANKERS Another interesting day for VLCCs, with rates above W/S 120 and with some brokers even talking rates of W/S 145 with destinations East. – Petron has fixed M/T «Antiparos» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading November 29, discharging Philippines, at W/S 129.75, while Sinochem has fixed M/T «New Valor» for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading December 5, discharging China, at W/S 126.5. – Steady conditions for Suezmaxes in both Mediterranean and West Africa, with Valero having fixed M/T «Mindanao» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading November 28 Algeria, discharging Quebec, at W/S 160. – Aframaxes in the Med. still hovering around W/S 200, while 100,000-ton cargoes out of Baltic in Europe are being fixed at W/S 160-165. – Stasco has fixed M/T «SKS Tweed» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 17 Algeria, discharging Med., at W/S 200. – Firmer conditions in Caribs, with Emerald having fixed M/T «Orkney Spirit» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading November 14, discharging USAC, at W/S 225. DRY CARGO Indices are moving in a downward direction, with BDI on November 5 losing 92 points, totaling 4,432, while BCI has lost 34, totaling 6,622. – Little remains, and the number of reported fixtures with SK Shipping on Capers having fixed M/V «CSK Grandeur,» 168,000 dwt, built 2000, delivery France November 12-15, trip via Bolivia, redelivery Skaw, at USD 73,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Noble has fixed M/V «Ataman,» 72,829 dwt, built 2001, delivery Muscat via India, redelivery Far East, at USD 35,000 daily, while Mol Navix has fixed M/V «CSK Unity,» 68,519 dwt, built 1995, delivery/redelivery Japan November 10-15, trip via Australia, at USD 38,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Norden has fixed M/V «Ocean Gem,» 42,467 dwt, built 1990, delivery India November 10-15, redelivery Med., at USD 21,000 daily, while Hugo Neu has fixed M/V «Yellow Knife,» 32,500 dwt, built 1984, delivery Caribs, November 5-10, trip via USAC, redelivery Taiwan, at USD 14,500 daily. – On coal cargoes, Sail has fixed M/V «Star Mizuhu» for 45-50,000 tons of cargo, loading UK end November to beginning of December, discharging India at USD 32.00 per ton with 20,000-ton load and 5,000-4,000 tons’ discharge.
