TANKERS Again a relatively quiet day, with Cont. slightly softer. Preem on Aframaxes has fixed M/T «Natura» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 22, discharging Sweden, at W/S 185, while JNS has fixed M/T «Prospect» for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading Gdansk November 28, discharging UKC, at W/S 152.5. The picture of this type vessels is similar in the Med., with Aframaxes around W/S 200 while Suezmaxes are still fixed for normal cross cargoes at W/S 150. Caribs are softer, around W/S 200 for the 70,000 tons cargo liftings. The VLCCs market is almost steady and at W/S 154 for 260,000 tons of cargo with destination East. Suezmaxes are weaker in West Africa, with BP having fixed M/T «Unicorn» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading November 27, discharging UKC, at W/S 145. In the Med., China Oil for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 24, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Olympic Spirit II» at W/S 230. On Suezmaxes, Exxonmobil for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading November 26, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Minerva Symphony» at W/S 170. In the Cont., BP for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 14 for UKC round, has fixed M/T «Sotra Spirit» at W/S 180. In Caribs, BP has fixed M/T «Hawaiian Star» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading November 29 Colombia, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 210. In West Africa, Stasco for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading November 29, discharging UKCM-EAST, has fixed Iran tonnage at W/S 142.5/150 respectively. DRY CARGO A few more capers have been fixed in the Atlantic, but essentially the market remains slow. On T/C periods, Deiulemar has fixed M/V «Snapper,» 135,160 dwt, built 1982, delivery China December 15 – January 15, at USD 26,700 daily. Spot market activity on Panamaxes remains sluggish, but period rates are still strong. Operators are still willing to take tonnage for 2-year periods at rates still in excess of USD 20,000 daily. On Atlantic round voyages, Cobelfret has fixed M/V «Rutland Glen,» 73,700 dwt, built 1999, delivery Spain end November, trip via Brazil, redelivery UKC, at USD 25,500 daily. In the Far East and on period fixtures, M/V «Orsolina Bottiglieri,» 75,540 dwt, built 2001, delivery Japan November 15-20 for 11-13 months’ period, at USD 31,000 daily. On smaller sizes, WBC has fixed M/V «Daviken,» 35,532 dwt, built 1987, delivery East Coast Mexico mid-November, trip via US Gulf, redelivery Denmark, at USD 21,500 daily.
