TANKERS The VLCCs market remains firm in the Arabian Gulf with a number of fixtures ranging from W/S 150-160 with destinations East. – The focus of the market has turned to increased activity in Suezmaxes out of West Africa, with a number of fixtures for all destinations. – Irving has fixed M/T «Wilma Yangtze» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading December 12, discharging East Coast Canada at W/S 150, while Sun has fixed M/T «Knock Dun» for same cargo, loading December 16, discharging USAC, at W/S 140. – Repsol with destination Med. has fixed M/T «Anafi» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading December 16, at W/S 156. – Aframaxes almost steady in the Med., with the fixtures at W/S 205, while Cont. and Caribs are firmer. – In the Cont., the 80,000-ton cargoes are being fixed at W/S 185, while in Caribs, the 70,000-ton cargoes are being fixed at W/S 230. – In the Med., API has fixed Eni tonnage for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading December 2 Egypt, discharging Italy, at W/S 182.5, while Sibneft has fixed M/T «Athina M» for same cargo quantity, loading December 7 Black Sea, discharging Med., at W/S 205. – In the Cont., Petrogal for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 23 East Coast UK, discharging Portugal, has fixed M/T «Barents Sea» at W/S 197.5. – In Caribs, Valero has fixed M/T «Genmar Baltic» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading November 30 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 202.5. – In West Africa, Sun has fixed M/T «Nisyros» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading December 12, discharging USAC, at W/S 137.5. – In Arabian Gulf, Stasco has fixed M/T «Verona» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading December 19, discharging Far East, at W/S 153.75. DRY CARGO There is definitely more activity, not only on Capers but on Panamaxes as well. – The Biffex index has improved by 47 points, totaling 4,076. – Bulkcarrier index as well as the Panamax index have moved the same way by 35 and 113 points, totaling 5,895 and 3,956, respectively. – On Capers in the Far East, NCL has fixed M/V «Front Striver,» 169,204 dwt, built 1992, delivery December 5-10 China, trip via Australia, at USD 64,000 daily, while in the Atlantic, Kleimar has fixed M/V «Orient Alliance,» 152,065 dwt, built 1990, delivery Portugal end-November, trip via Brazil, redelivery China, at USD 67,000 daily. – On T/C periods, Cosco has fixed M/V «Cape Kestrel,» 161,475 dwt, built 1993, delivery Korea mid-December for 11-13 month period, at USD 52,250 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Seven Mountains has fixed M/V «Orsolina Bottiglieir,» 75,450 dwt, built 2001, delivery end-November Japan, trip via Australia, redelivery Belgium, at USD 38,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Sinochart has fixed M/V «Artemis,» 68,788 dwt, built 1990, delivery US Gulf November 27-30, redelivery Far East, at USD 25,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Tschudi & Eitzen has fixed M/V «Constantinos S,» 42,007 dwt, built 1990, delivery end-November, US Gulf, redelivery Spain at USD 27,000 daily.
