TANKERS VLCCs at steady rates out of Arabian Gulf, with Exxonmobil having fixed M/T «Falcon» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 18, discharging Far East, at W/S 160, while Shell for 265,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 7, discharging Far East, has fixed M/T «Venture Spirit» at W/S 152.5. – On Suezmaxes, W. Africa is very active, with rates from W/S 130 early last week now being negotiated at W/S 160 with destinations USAC. – Sun has fixed M/T «Poetic» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 24, discharging USAC, at W/S 160. – The Med. is stable, with Api having fixed M/T «Voyager» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 5, Egypt, discharging Italy, at W/S 140. – On Aframaxes, Med. is stable, while N. Sea market has moved upward, with the 80,000-ton cargoes being fixed at W/S 200. – In the Med., Petroval for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading beg. December, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Lucky Lady» at W/S 197.5. – In the Cont., Europet for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 9, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Nordic Akarita» at W/S 200. – In Caribs, Stusco has fixed M/T «Hudson Spirit» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 12 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 230. – In W. Africa, Hess for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 18, discharging Caribs, has fixed M/T «Genmar Horn» at W/S 155. In Arabian Gulf, Exxonmobil for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 19, discharging Far East, has fixed M/T «Eli Maersk» at W/S 160. DRY CARGO Activity has moved to the East, with rates continuing to climb. – Japanese charterers are very active in moving coal to Japan. – On T/C periods, Navix on Capers has fixed M/V «Aigion,» 170,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery Korea April 2004 for 5 years’ trading at USD 25,250 daily. – On Panamaxes, Chinese charterers have fixed M/V «Jin Kang,» 74,203 dwt, built 2002, delivery China Dec. 5-15 for 11-13 month period at USD 30,000 daily, while Kline has fixed M/V «Apj Jit,» 74,756 dwt, built 2001, delivery/redelivery Japan, end-Nov., trip via China, at USD 30,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Daeyang has fixed M/V «Syros,» 63,325 dwt, built 1981, delivery Skaw end-Nov., trip via Ventspills, redelivery Far East, at USD 25,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Samsun has fixed M/V «Provider,» 38,590 dwt, built 1985, delivery UKC Dec. 4-8 for 6-8 month period at USD 17,500 daily. – On ore cargoes, Ilva has fixed M/V «Luciana della Gatta» for 105,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 1-10 Nouadhibou, discharging Italy, at USD 11.00 per ton with 2-day load and 30,000 tons discharge.
