TANKERS Firmer rates for VLCCs out of the Arabian Gulf, with several fixtures at W/S 165 for cargo sizes of 260 270,000 tons. – Rates for Aframaxes also remain strong in all areas. – In Med., 80,000-ton cargoes out of Black Sea fixed at W/S 240, mainly due to delays in the Bosporus, while in Cont., due to fresh inquiry out of Baltic, rates have moved up. – Europet has fixed M/T «Natura» for 90,000 tons of cargo, loading mid-Dec., discharging UKC, at W/S 270. – In Caribs, 70,000-ton cargo liftings are fixed at W/S 250-255. Marathon has fixed M/T «Sanko Brave,» loading Dec. 22 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 255. – Suezmaxes steady out of W. Africa, with 130,000-ton cargoes having been fixed at W/S 150-155 with destination US Gulf / USAC. – CSSA has fixed M/T «Athenian Victory» for 130,000-ton cargo, loading Dec. 29, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 155. – In Med., AOT for 80,000-ton cargo, loading Dec. 15, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Framura» at W/S 220. – On Suezmax, BP has fixed Alliance Tonnage for 135,000-ton cargo, loading Jan. 8, discharging Med., at W/S 190. – In Cont., Stasco has fixed M/T «Koa Spirit» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 19 for UKC round, at W/S 225. – In Caribs, SPI has fixed M/T «Falster Spirit» for 70,000-ton cargo, loading Dec. 14, discharging USAC, at W/S 255. – In W. Index moved upward Friday by 72 points, to 6,351. – Strong demand in Atlantic and Pacific on round trips and on periods. – Mosk in Med. has fixed M/V «New Halcyon,» 149,000 dwt, built 1993, delivery Passero Dec. 20-25 for 4-6 month period at USD 63,000 daily. – Kline in Far East has fixed M/V «Sa Fortius,» 172,000 dwt, built 2001, delivery Japan Dec. 19-22, trip via Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 74,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, NYK has fixed M/V «Tien Bai Feng» 74,200 dwt, built 2000, delivery/redelivery Japan Dec. 15-20, trip via East Coast Australia, at USD 39,250 daily. – In Atlantic, Bocimar has fixed M/V «Torm Rotna,» 75,971 dwt, built 2001, delivery France beg.
