TANKERS – On VLCCs, Tupras has fixed M/T «Empress des Mers» for 300,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 1 Iran, discharging Red Sea, at W/S 155. – Suezmaxes are also being negotiated at strong rates, especially out of W. Africa, with Enap having fixed M/T «Stena Spirit» for 130,000 tons of cargo loading Jan. 10, discharging Chile, at W/S 240. – In the Med., similar size vessels are fixed at W/S 225, while in Caribs El Paso has fixed M/T «Aldawha» for 130,000 tons of cargo loading Jan. 7 East Coast Mexico, discharging Aruba, at W/S 215. – Aframaxes are also in same path with strong rates in the Med. and especially in the Cont. The 80,000 tons of cargoes cross Cont. are fixed above W/S 250, while Iceclass vessels out of Primorsk are fixed above W/S 500. – In the Med., Most has fixed M/T «Seacharm» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Dec. 29 Egypt, discharging Italy, at W/S 240, while in Caribs Marathon has fixed M/T «Sks Tugela» for 70,000 tons of cargo loading Jan. 1-3, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 305. – In the Cont., Conoco has fixed M/T «Oinoussian Spirit» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Dec. 30, discharging USA, at W/S 280. – In Caribs, Premcor for 70,000 tons of cargo loading Dec. 30, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Bahamas Spirit» at W/S 315. – In W. Africa, BP for 130,000 tons of cargo loading Jan. 15, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed M/T «North Star» at W/S 230. DRY CARGO Capesize market is more active than is evident, with several ships under negotiation. – Atlantic and East rates remain strong. – Mol Navix has fixed M/T «Channel Navigator,» 172,058 dwt, built 1997, delivery Dec. 24-27 China, trip via Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 83,000 daily. – Panamax rates also at high with good demand on T/C periods. S. Koreans have fixed M/T «Doric Herald,» 73,350 dwt, built 1995, delivery China 22-24 Dec. for 6-8 months’ trading at USD 40,000 daily. – Rates remain very strong for Handymaxes with Samsun having fixed M/T «Nord Monaco,» 50,296 dwt, built 2002, delivery Dec. 24-27 China for 12 months’ trading at USD 26,750 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Mol Navix has fixed M/V «Oceanic Enterprise,» 71,259 dwt, built 1995, delivery Dec. 22-25 China, trip via Indonesia, redelivery Japan, at USD 34,950 daily, while Bunge has fixed M/V «Lamyra,» 64,879 dwt, built 1983, delivery China Jan. 28-31 for 2 months’ trading at USD 30,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, M/V «Atoyac,» 45,200 dwt, built 2000, delivery Japan Dec. 19-24, trip via Nopac, redelivery Cont., was fixed at USD 25,750 daily, while M/V «Jag Rishi,» 41,093 dwt, built 1984, delivery Med. end Dec. redelivery Far East, was fixed at USD 22,000 daily.
