Africa / Med. run. – OMV has fixed M/T «Astra» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 14, discharging Italy, at W/S 350. – In the Med., Eni for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 25 Egypt, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Silver Paradise» at W/S 235. – On Suezmaxes, Samir for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 1 Egypt, discharging Morocco, has fixed M/T «Front Brabant» at W/S 265. – In the Cont., Navion for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 2 Denmark, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Kuban» at W/S 277.5. – In Caribs, Marathon has fixed M/T «Genmar Boss» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 5 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 342.5. – In W. Africa, Stasco for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 10, discharging US Gulf, has fixed Genmar Tonnage at W/S 260. – In Arabian Gulf, Pertamina has fixed M/T «Front Duchess» for 245,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 8, discharging Indonesia, at W/S 185. DRY CARGO The BCI hit a new record at 6,862, an amazing number, especially at this time of the year. There are also several negotiations under way, with more fixing expected before the Christmas holidays. – On the T/C period run, BHP Billiton has fixed the newbuilding 180,000 dwt M/V «Pacific Confidence,» delivery Japan, for 3 years’ trading at close to USD 36,500 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Mol Navix has fixed M/V «Kavo Sapphire,» 75,574 dwt, built 1999, delivery Japan beg. January for 4-6 month period at USD 40,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Pyramid has fixed M/V «Babitonga,» 70,529 dwt, built 1998, delivery US Gulf Jan. 2-7, trip via Egypt, redelivery Passero, at USD 33,000 daily and USD 550,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, ED&F Man has fixed M/V «Olga Topic,» 45,483 dwt, built 1995, delivery US Gulf, trip via North Coast S. America, redelivery Cont., at USD 37,500 daily.
