Greece could be allowed to make all of IMF June payments by end of month

Greece could be allowed to make four payments totaling 1.6 billion euros to the International Monetary Fund by the end of June, Kathimerini understands. A first instalment of 300 million euros is due on Friday.

According to a top-ranking IMF official, the IMF appeared willing to agree to the payment scheme provided Athens submits a request. Such a move would give a certain level of flexibility to the Greek government.

Besides the June 5 payment, a second instalment of 350 million euros is due on June 12, a third payment of about 560 million euros is due on June 16 and a fourth one of 350 million euros on June 19.

According to sources, the Greek government had secured the funds for the payment of the first two instalments.
