Greece may sign agreement with Russia on TurkStream this month

Production Reconstruction and Energy Minister Panayiotis Lafazanis stated on Tuesday that Greece may well sign a memorandum of cooperation with Russia for the passage of the Russian-backed TurkStream natural gas pipeline through Greece during Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s visit to St Petersburg on June 18-20.

Lafazanis told a parliamentary committee that talks on the construction of the Greek section of the pipeline are at an advanced stage and that the 2-billion-euro project will be one of the biggest in the country in the last 40 years, turning Greece into an energy junction and creating many new jobs.
