Tourism, retailers boost construction activity
The rise in construction activity continued in March, not because of any growth in the residential market but due to the investment made at the start of every tourism season in the renovation, upgrading or expansion of tourism accommodation, as well as due to the development of some major retail commerce stores.
Building permits rose 19.1 percent in number year-on-year, covering 32.2 percent more surface area and taking up 33.1 percent more in terms of volume than those issued in March 2014, Hellenic Statistical Authority data showed on Friday.
