ECB leader says up to Greece to act on bailout now

European Central Bank head Mario Draghi says that Greece and its creditors need a sustainable deal on further bailout money “very soon.”

He warned that “the ball lies squarely in the camp” of the Greek government.

Draghi noted in remarks before a committee of the European Parliament that the central bank is playing a role in keeping Greeces banks going through emergency credits.

But he said a deal on conditions for new loan money was “a political decision” and needed to be taken by elected officials, not central bankers. [AP]
