Drivers told to get insurance or face 750-euro fine

Owners of uninsured private vehicles face fines up to 750 euros, with moderate estimates saying that the number of such vehicles in the country ranges between 870,000 and 1.1 million.

Katerina Savvaidou, general secretary for public revenues, told a press conference on Wednesday that owners should get their vehicles insured before they are identified during random police checks or are located through the cross-checking of Finance Ministry data with that at the Information Center of the Association of Insurance Companies.
