Rollercoaster session ends in the green

The local bourse benchmark ended Thursday’s volatile session in the green for the first time this week, as traders discerned a position-taking opportunity when the main index hit a 33-month low. The latter fact also explains the increase in turnover.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) closed at 683.43 points, adding 0.37 percent to Wednesday’s 680.88 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded 0.66 percent to close at 207.78 points.

OTE telecom gained 10 percent and Ellaktor increased 8.72 percent, while Jumbo lost 7.69 percent and Alpha Bank fell 5.31 percent.

In total 51 stocks advanced, 49 declined and 14 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 117.7 million euros, against Wednesday’s 83 million.
