Tax statement deadline to move to July 27

Alternate Finance Minister Nadia Valavani implied on Wednesday she would ease the pressure on the General Secretariat for Information Systems as she will extend the deadline for submission of income tax statements later this week, probably to July 27.

With only six days to go until the current June 30 deadline, no more than 1.9 million declarations, or just 31 percent of the total, had been submitted to the Finance Ministry’s online platform by Wednesday.

Valavani stressed there will be no change to the tax payment deadlines, with the first tranche due on July 31.
