PPC says grace period for overdue bills ends on Wednesday

The administration of Public Power Corporation (PPC) issued on Tuesday a call to electricity consumers to settle their debts to the utility as soon as possible, warning that the grace period granted due to the bank holiday ends on Wednesday.

Since ths closure of Greece’s banks in late June, PPC has not imposed any interest on overdue bill payments and has suspended all measures aimed at compelling its clients to pay their bills, such as cutting power off.

In the three weeks that banks were closed debts to the PPC rose from 1.7 billion euros to 2 billion.
