Stocks rise as turnover continues to drop

The vast majority of Greek stocks started the week with gains, but on meager trading volume as investors are keeping their cards close to their chests until the political dust settles.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 655.33 points, adding 1.35 percent to Friday’s 646.62 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 1.12 percent to end at 190.92 points.

Banks were at the forefront of price growth, as Piraeus Bank added 11.70 percent and Eurobank gained 5.26 percent, while construction group Ellaktor advanced 6.38 percent. Coca-Cola HBC declined 1.56 percent.

In total 70 stocks rose, 18 fell and 14 stayed put.

Turnover came to 16.9 million euros, down from last Friday’s 22.3 million.
