TANKERS The market remains interesting, with a number of VLCC fixtures mainly with destination East fixed at W/S 145. ExxonMobil has fixed M/T «Koho I» for 265,000 tons of cargo, loading February 25, discharging Japan, at W/S 145. – Steady levels for Suezmaxes in the Med. and West Africa too. – In the Med., Ursa has fixed M/T «Altair Voyager» for 132,000 tons of cargo, loading February 19, discharging UKC/Med., at W/S 305, while Hess in West Africa for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading February 22, discharging Caribs, has fixed M/T «British Hawk» at W/S 287.5. – Aframax rates in the Med. are holding around W/S 300-310, with Gunvor having fixed M/T «Apanemo» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading February 26, discharging UKC/Med., at abovementioned levels. – North Sea stable but Caribs weaker, with Marathon having fixed M/T «Dalmacija» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading January 29 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 325. – In the Med., Petroval has fixed M/T «Iran Amol» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading February 22 Black Sea, discharging Med., at W/S 310. – In the Cont., Lukoil for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading February 5, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Champion» at W/S 255. – In the Arabian Gulf, ExxonMobil has fixed M/T «Koho I» for 265,000 tons of cargo, loading February 25, discharging Japan, at W/S 145. DRY CARGO Trading is very slow, with easier rates in the East for earlier positions. M/V «Primo,» 132,049 dwt, built 1982, delivery China February 5-9, for Australian round voyage, was fixed at USD 70,000 daily. – A similar picture for the Panamaxes too, with only Japanese charterers in the East being fairly active. Rates are holding around USD 40,000 daily for the normal round voyages in the area. – Mol Navix has fixed M/V «Seaguardian,» 75,200 dwt, built 1999, delivery end-January Japan, for Australian round voyage, at USD 40,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Augustea has fixed M/V «King Arthur,» 72,873 dwt, built 1997, delivery Italy end-January for two legs redelivery Far East, at USD 41,250 daily. – Good demand still exists on T/C period requirements. Bunge has fixed Metrostar tonnage delivery Japan July-September for five years’ trading at USD 20,000 daily. – On Handymaxes, the strong rates still apply, especially in the Atlantic. VOC has fixed M/V «Yong an 2,» 44,109 dwt, built 1995, delivery US Gulf January 21-24, redelivery UKC, at USD 42,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, Sasol, for 140,000 tons of cargo, loading Richards Bay February 15-25, discharging Ijmuiden and Amsterdam, has fixed Swiss tonnage at USD 27.50 per ton with two days’ load and 25,000 tons discharge.
