Mixed signals from indices

Economic sentiment in Greece posted a rebound last month but consumer sentiment continued to drop, according to the monthly survey of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).

The economic sentiment index rose to 83.1 points in September from 75.2 points in August and 81.3 points in July.

September also saw an improvement in IOBE’s Business Expectations Index and the Markit-compiled Procurement Managers Index,

However, IOBE’s consumer sentiment index dropped its the lowest point of the last three years last month, minus 64.2 points, while analysis of the Procurement Managers Index data showed that the volume of orders in the manufacturing sector went down in September for the 13th consecutive month, along with the number of people employed in manufacturing.
