Developments in Turkey benefit Greek cruise tourism

A last-minute reversal will likely see the cruise sector in Greece record growth this year after all, against initial estimates for a decline of 3 to 5 percent from 2014.

The data processed by the Association of Cruise Ship Owners and Maritime Agencies (EEKFN) showed that since the end of July the flow of cruise ships visiting Greek ports has grown significantly as a result of developments mainly in Turkey, as well as in the broader area of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Many unscheduled visits have been recorded, mostly by cruise liners originally scheduled to visit Turkish ports.
