ATHEX: Benchmark slips 0.30 pct

Greek stocks painted a mixed picture on Thursday, as National Bank’s gains were not enough to bring the benchmark into the green as it had done on Wednesday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 678.05 points, shedding 0.30 percent from Wednesday’s 680.10 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 0.40 percent to end at 200.73 points.

National added 8.30 percent, but other banks gave ground, with Piraeus falling 9.88 percent and Alpha dropping 6.96 percent.

In total 47 stocks advanced, 38 declined and 14 stayed put.

Turnover reached 37.2 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 61.5 million.
