Bankruptcies down in 2014

The number of corporate bankruptcies posted a 15.8 percent decline last year from 2013, according to data issued by the ICAP Group for the Greek market.

In total 330 companies went bankrupt last year in Greece, against 392 in 2013, with the 15.8 percent drop being the second biggest among the 17 European countries monitored, after Spain.

Collectively, the five European Union countries most hurt by the financial crisis – Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain – observed a 5.8 percent decline in the number of bankruptcies last year compared with 2013, the first annual decline since the outbreak of the crisis.
