Wieser sees progress in Greece’s reform efforts
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s second administration is better than the first one, Thomas Wieser, the head of the Euro Working Group which prepares decisions for meetings of eurozone finance ministers, has said.
“The new government of Tsipras gives the impression that contrary to its previous unwillingness to cooperate, it now is more determined to implement [the measures it has agreed to],” Wieser said in an interview with Sudwest Presse made public Friday.
“Only when the agreed measures are fully implemented can the flow of money begin,” he said.
In the same interview, the Austrian official said that the 86 million euro loan given to Greece was agreed as an “upper limit,” adding that the country could return to bond markets as early as next year.
