ATHEX: Bourse index sheds 3.1 pct

Greek stock losses accelerated on Thursday, with bank chips seeing 1.5 billion euros of their capitalization evaporate in just one session.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 686.59 points, shedding 3.10 percent from Wednesday’s 708.59 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 0.85 percent, ending at 213.59 points.
The banks index slumped 15.58 percent, with Piraeus Bank falling 27.85 percent and Eurobank losing 20 percent.
In total 21 stocks grew, 71 dropped and 15 stayed put. Turnover amounted to 47.3 million euros, up from Wednesday’s 43.7 million.
