Midseason sales volume shrank an estimated 14.7 percent
The midseason sales that ended on Tuesday disappointed market expectations, as retailers saw even less activity than in the first 10 days of November last year.
According to the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), which has compiled estimates from traders’ associations, sales volume in the November 1-10 period declined by 14.7 percent across the country from the same period last year.
Merchants also said that the government measure to allow Sunday opening during sales periods failed to boost turnover or employment.
