ATHEX: Bank stocks lose standing

In spite of the 13.67 percent dive posted by the banks index at the end of trade in Athens on Thursday, the Greek bourse benchmark only fell marginally.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 642.77 points, dropping just 0.01 percent from Wednesday’s 642.82 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 0.15 percent to end at 190.91 points.

In total 43 stocks went up, 59 declined and 22 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 25.6 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 39.8 million.
