ATHEX: Index rises from 42-month low
Blue chips emerged on Thursday from the intense selling earlier this week, posting gains of 3 percent, but it will only become clear in the coming week whether the benchmark did in fact bottom out on Wednesday, when it hit a 42-month low, or if it still has further to fall.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 576.51 points, adding 2.99 percent to Wednesday’s 559.79 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 3.01 percent to end at 165.13 points, but small-caps declined 9.11 percent.
In total 56 stocks rose, 37 dropped and 13 stayed put.
Turnover amounted to 127.2 million euros.
