Evert’s list of 3,404 party appointees
New Democracy Member of Parliament Miltiadis Evert yesterday submitted a list of 3,404 people who lead public companies or occupy an advisory role in the state administration saying they were proof of the ruling Panhellenic Socialist Movement’s (PASOK’s) stranglehold on the State. Evert, a former New Democracy leader, added that the ruling Socialist had put party hacks in those posts, wasting lots of resources without making the State more efficient. «Each time we accused the government of wasting money in the public sector, the response was: ‘Cite specific cases.’ Well, here’s the proof,» Evert said. He added that the number of people hired was way out of proportion to the needs of the public sector and cast doubt on their qualifications.
