OLP board votes to renegotiate port’s concession contract

The state-appointed governing board of Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) unexpectedly opted on Thursday to defy the government as it reached a majority decision to set up a committee to renegotiate OLP’s new concession contract with the ruling coalition.

Voting against the motion was the representative of state sell-off fund TAIPED, Athanasios Liagos, who said the process was illegal and generated by certain OLP board members who oppose the privatization.

The motion was backed by Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis and Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry head Vassilis Korkidis.
