Drop in supermarket turnover accelerates in November

November witnessed yet another drop in supermarket turnover, following the trend that started in the summer with the introduction of capital controls by the government.

Data compiled by IRI showed that supermarket sales value fell a notable 5.3 percent year-on-year, the biggest November drop in the last three years.

In the first 11 months of 2015 supermarket turnover posted an annual decline of 2.5 percent, with the exception of German discounter Lidl, which enjoyed an 1.4 percent year-on-year rise.
