Greek students bag top prize for nanotech doc

A Greek video on the nanotechnology employed by local firm Glonatech, a subsidiary of the ONEX Group, has won the top prize in a European student competition on nanotechnology documentaries.

Filmed by students at the I.M. Panayiotopoulos High School in eastern Attica, the documentary examines the development of advanced nanotechnology materials and applications.

It finished joint first in the competition organized by the NanoDiode project and the European Union of Science Journalists’ Associations, titled “What Kind of Nanotechnologies Do We Want?”

Glonatech is one of three European companies that produces carbon nanotubes on an industrial scale and recently earned a distinction at the CleanTech Open Global Ideas competition in San Francisco for its carbon nanotube application for the cleansing of oil spills.
