The Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) on Tuesday presented a report to Parliament detailing the number of inspections it carried out last year and showing a 43 percent rate of tax law violations.

The service said it conducted 24,273 inspections in 2015, during which 10,496 businesses were found to be in violation of tax laws and 77 of which evaded paying 71.7 million euros in value added tax.

Together with older fines that were settled, the Finance Ministry in 2015 managed to retrieve 387 million euros in lost revenues, the SDOE report showed.
