Saudi hotel firm invests in Greece

Saudi group Somewhere Hotels is about to officially enter the Greek hotel market, which will also mark its European debut. Kathimerini understands that the group, with two units already in Dubai and another two in Saudi Arabia, is poised to open its fifth in Vouliagmeni on Athens’s souther coast.

The unit will be a boutique hotel operating under the name Somewhere Vouliagmeni. The five-star hotel will have a capacity for 11 luxury suites following the renovation of an existing building and it is expected to go into operation in mid-April.

Somewhere Hotels penetrated the local market as a stakeholder last year after securing control of the company that owns the luxurious Eden Beach Resort complex on the 47th kilometer of the Athens-Sounio road, near Anavyssos. Sources say that the group is now planning to include this unit in its Somewhere brand, naming it Somewhere in Eden. The seaside complex, which boasts a capacity of 250 rooms, is already undergoing remodelling that is set to continue ahead of its opening for this summer season in mid-April.

Another source said that the group is also planning to implement other projects in Greece, always focusing on four- and five-star hotels.
