Air arrivals decline at destinations on the migration route

Greece’s main airports recorded more than 1.6 million foreign arrivals in the first four months of the year, posting an annual increase of 7.6 percent, according to data compiled by the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

However, the data analysis confirms forecasts of a decline in arrivals at Greek destinations affected by the wave of migration from the Middle East and Africa, while destinations which have remained unaffected are showing significant gains.

Athens International Airport reported 6.1 percent growth in January-April but April alone posted a year-on-year decline of 1.8 percent.
