Lagarde calls on Athens to work harder on reforms

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde has asked Athens for more work on reforms, while acknowledging the progress recorded.

Speaking on the fringes of the G7 summit in Japan, the French politician said Greece was not on the agenda as "everyone wished to avoid a discussion on Grexit, while the discussion is open on how to avoid a Brexit," referring to the possibility of a Greek exit from the eurozone and a British departure from the European Union.

On the Greek debt, Lagarde argued that the Fund will return to the issue later with a new sustainability analysis while cooperating with the EU.
