TANKERS A quiet start with limited fresh inquiry. – Aframaxes in the Med. are lately fixed at W/S 200, while in the N. Sea rates are steadying around W/S 150-155 for the 80,000-ton round voyages. – Caribs seems quieter, with marginal inquiry. Latest fixtures are hovering around W/S 175-180 for the 70,000-ton cargo liftings. – Suezmax market out of W. Africa weak, with Vitol having fixed M/T «Genmar Alta» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading March 21, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 120, while on VLCCs Marathon has fixed M/T «Arion» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading March 25, also discharging US Gulf, at W/S 98. – On VLCCs out of Arabian Gulf, Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Astro Lynx» for 240,000 tons of cargo, loading March 15, discharging Japan, at W/S 102.5. – In the Med., Tupras for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading March 9 Algeria, discharging Turkey, has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» at W/S 200. – In the Cont. and on Suezmax, Navion for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading March 4 Baltic, discharging Singapore, has fixed M/T «SCF Sayan» at W/S 150. – In Caribs, Citgo for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading beg.-March, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Redina» at W/S 305. – In W. Africa, Vitol for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading March 21, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Genmar Alta» at W/S 120. – In Arabian Gulf, Shell for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading March 27, discharging Far East, has fixed M/T «Suva» at W/S 105. DRY CARGO Capesize tonnage oversupplied in the East and Atlantic, with few new cargoes quoted so far. – In the Far East, Grant has fixed M/V «Good Luck,» 173,028 dwt, built 1984, for 2 round voyages, delivery China, trip via India, at USD 60,000 daily, while in the Atlantic SK shipping has fixed M/V «Rubin Phoenix,» 171,080 dwt, built 1997, delivery UK beg.-March, trip via Brazil, redelivery China, at USD 97,500 daily. – There is still pressure on Panamaxes with early ships in the Atlantic. Rates appear steady. – Wampol has fixed M/V «Hebei Diamond,» 66,786 dwt, built 1984, delivery Passero beg.-March for 90-100 days’ trading, at USD 42,500 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, TMT has fixed M/V «Dhinyo Brilliance,» 76,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery Japan beg.-March for 7-8 month period, at USD 51,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, IVS has fixed M/V «Odigitria,» 33,307 dwt, built 1985, delivery Muscat beg.-March, trip via S. Africa, redelivery UKC, at USD 21,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Eurosailor» for 150,000 tons of cargo, loading March 10-25 S. Africa, discharging Spain, at USD 21.00 per ton with 2 days load and 25,000-ton discharge.
