Mid-season sales to begin on November 1

Mid-season sales at Greek retail stores will begin on Tuesday, November 1, and run Through Thursday, November 10, the ESEE federation of retailers said on Tuesday in a circular sent to all its members.

ESEE said that retailers also have the option to stay open on Sunday, November 6, though operating hours must be restricted between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. It asked retailers who chose to operate on that day to then send a detailed report to the federation on the number of customers they served and on their sales.

The federation further warned that stores found in violation of basic sales regulations may face a fine equal to 0.5 percent of their annual turnover and no less than 5,000 euros. Stores fined for the second time in five years will have to pay a penalty of 3 percent of annual turnover.
