ATHEX: Bourse gives in to volatility

The closing auctions on Thursday sent the benchmark of the Greek bourse back below the 590-point mark it had cleared earlier in the day, with volatility set to continue in the coming days and weeks.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 587.02 points, adding 0.88 percent to Wednesday’s 581.92 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.90 percent to 1,553.81 points.

In total, 56 stocks advanced, 40 contracted and 16 stayed put.

Turnover rose to 61.2 million euros from Wednesday’s 40 million.

The general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia declined 0.51 percent to close at 66.01 points.
