Elais-Unilever in cooperation with Delta
Two of the biggest food companies in Greece, Elais-Unilever Hellas and Delta Foods, are joining forces on a line of products in a cooperation seen strengthening domestic food production.
Elais-Unilever Hellas has granted Delta Foods the right to produce and distribute Becel ProActiv brand dairy products. Delta, a Vivartia group subsidiary, started production last month, with milk products manufactured at the Delta plant at Sindos, near Thessaloniki, while the yogurt products are made at the Aghios Stefanos plant in Attica, with the exception of yogurt drinks, which will continue to be imported for some time.
This is a long-term agreement that provides for Elais to collect part of the revenues as it remains the owner of the Becel ProActiv brand, and will continue to be responsible for the line’s advertising. It is noted that Becel ProActiv margarine products will continue to be produced by Elais-Unilever Hellas.
The deal means that products hitherto imported will now be manufactured in Greece, with this cooperation likely to expand to more products, according to Elais-Unilever Hellas sources. The deal also entails the sale of Becel ProActiv products at outlets such as bakeries and minimarkets to which the Delta network has access.
