TANKERS Quieter conditions in all areas for Aframaxes. – In the Med., the 80,000-ton cargoes are being fixed at W/S 135, while nothing fresh has been reported in the Cont. – In Caribs, Stusco has fixed M/T «SKS Tugela» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 17 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 125, while Navion has fixed M/T «St Helen» for same cargo, loading April 21 with same destination, at W/S 130. – Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Regent» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 15 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 125. – The West Africa, Suezmax market is softening on limited activity. Rates at mid-140s for transatlantic voyages. Sun has fixed M/T «Knock Clune» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading May 5, discharging USAC, at W/S 145, while Hess for same cargo, loading May 2, discharging Caribs, has fixed M/T «British Hunter» at W/S 150. – In the Med., Irving has fixed M/T «Hudson» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading April 28 Algeria, discharging East Coast Canada, at W/S 150, while OMV has fixed Iran tonnage for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading end April, discharging Med., at W/S 165. – VLCCs stable out of Arabian Gulf, while market is firming out of West Africa, with latest rates for transatlantic voyages at W/S 120. – Shell for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading May 12, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Emilie Maersk» at W/S 119. DRY CARGO Capesize market is in a lull at present as most had expected. – Far East market is declining, while Atlantic appears steady. – Kline has fixed M/V «North Gate,» 179,422 dwt, built 1984, delivery China trip via Western Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 60,000 daily. – The Panamaxes market in the East is continuing to behave erratically, while in the Atlantic, several new transatlantic mineral cargoes were quoted and as well as limited supply of grain cargoes from South America. – Kline has fixed M/V «Happy Clipper,» 73,413 dwt, built 2001, delivery Japan mid-April, trip via Nopac, redelivery Japan, at USD 37,750 daily. – On smaller sizes, Cargill has fixed M/V «Aigeorgis,» 50,359 dwt, built 2001, delivery China mid-April, redelivery Far East, at USD 30,000 daily.
