ATHEX: National Bank takes bourse lower
The benchmark of the Greek bourse fell back into negative territory on Thursday as the banks index took a 2.90 percent dive.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 762.49 points, shedding 0.60 percent from Wednesday’s 767.07 points. The large-cap FTSE-26 index contracted 0.62 percent to close at 2,003.61 points.
National Bank, which accounted for just under half of the trading volume, fell 3.38 percent, while Eurobank gave up 3.92 percent.
In total 41 stocks expanded, 54 declined and 25 stayed put.
Turnover dropped to 37.3 million euros, from 64.2 million euros on Wednesday.
The general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia advanced 0.15 percent to 74.13 points.
