Sales of electric vehicles and hybrids soar in Greece

A total of 199 hybrid cars were sold in Greece in 2017, up from 43 in 2016, new data show.

At the same time, sales of plug-in electric vehicles went up from 31 in 2016 to 161 in 2017.

This is an increase of 419 percent for hybrid cars and an almost 217 percent rise in plug-in electric car sales.

A total 331.971 new energy vehicles were sold across the European Union in 2017, according to the same data, in what marks a 54.8 percent increase compared to 2016. Of these, 115.405 were electric vehicles and 216.566 were hybrids.
